In certain situations,
porcelain onlays are an excellent alternative to crowns on back
teeth. They're more conservative than crowns, meaning more of your tooth is preserved -- less drilling -- and the result is stronger and more natural. Onlays cover a portion of a damaged tooth as opposed to the entire
tooth. And since they are made with no metal base, they can be more cosmetic due to the natural translucency of pure porcelain.
Now using the latest CEREC technology at Glendale Dental Arts, beautiful, strong, durable onlays can now be started and finished in just a SINGLE visit! Call us for more information about CEREC, or make an appointment and find out how CEREC can help you.
Onlays don't work in all
cases. Since onlays restore portions of teeth, the remaining
uncovered portion of the tooth must be strong and healthy. If
the tooth is too weak, then a full coverage crown will be
recommended. We'll let you know what your options are, and together we'll come up with what's best for you. |
